To change the battery on this GMC key fob, you will need two CR2016 batteries and a flathead screwdriver.

3. Take out the old battery and note which way it was facing. This will help you insert the new battery in the correct orientation.

The type of key you had and the year the car was manufactured are the most important factors for identifying if you need a chip, intelligent fob, “push to start”, remote, regular “non-transponder” key.

The last thing to do is put your cover back on fob. Gently try to put the two halves together by hands from top to bottom. Inspect your remote key fob case for gaps. If it is derece tightly closed try to repeat last step.

Once the cover is off, you should be able to easily identify the battery itself. Remove the silver disc by hand or with the screwdriver. Confirm that your new Buick key fob battery is the correct size.

2. Once the key fob is released, you should see a small screw that is holding the back cover in place. Use a small screwdriver to remove this screw and then carefully pry the back cover off of the key fob.

A: GMC Yukon has read different types of keys. Some require programming, and some don’t. All transponder chip keys and/or smart key fobs need to be programmed.
